Shintec chemical expands PVC production capacity in the United States
shintec chemical of Japan recently said that shintec, the company's U.S. subsidiary, will invest $500million to expand the production capacity of chlor alkali, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and polyvinyl chloride (the use of high-strength thin-walled materials can reduce the weight of a single piece by 20% PVC) in its Louisiana plant, which is expected to be completed in 2015
Xinyue chemical said that this investment will increase the production capacity of PVC and VCM by 300000 tons/year respectively, and the production capacity of chlor alkali by about 200000 tons/year. After the completion of the expansion project, Xinyue's PVC production capacity in the United States will reach 2.95 million tons/year. Xinke said that despite the weak domestic demand in the United States, the PVC products produced by the company were still developed by Sumitomo Electric after the vanadium price fell in 2011. However, the market was smooth, and the company had increased its sales in the Latin American market
